TOWN
COUNCIL NOTICES:
No Meeting in August
NEW MAYOR FOR NORTHLEACH
At the AGM in May the Council elected Cllr Michael Pezet as
Chairman of the Council and Town Mayor for the current year. Cllr
Mrs Jenny Lawrence was re-elected
as Vice Chairman. Members proposed a vote of thanks to Cllr Chris
Hancock for his work as Chairman and Mayor during the previous 3
years.
ALLOTMENTS
Our list of keen gardeners looking for ab allotment is growing with
no reasonable hope of finding additional sites. now Cllr Michael
Gaut has hit upon a scheme to put prospective allotment holders in
touch with residents who have land to spare.
If you have a garden that is too
much for you to manage and if you are willing to allow a section to
be used by a local resident - maybe in exchange for grass cutting, a
supply of fresh vegetables or a small fee? - then please contact
Mike Gaut on 01451 860868 or the Town Council Office.

PLAY AREAS
For many years the Town Council has maintained the children's
play equipment on the Playing Field and at Ward Road. Although our
health and safety inspections have been positive, the equipment is
looking rather tired and will not last forever. The council is keen
to explore the options to replace the equipment but doesn't have
either the funding or the resources to do so.
CAN YOU HELP?
We would like to form a group of
interested residents who can work with Councillors to research grant
funding and drive the project to completion. Maybe you have a young
child who would enjoy a new play area, have some useful experience
or would just like some input? If so, please contact the Town
Council office or
email
clerk@northleach.gov.uk

submitted. We have to wait until mid-January to find out if we have
been successful.
In the meantime, a play scheme
provided by the same fund has just opened in Andoversford.
Dog Mess
We are receiving more and more complaints about dog mess on paths.
We hope that the new bins will help but it is an offence not to pick
up after your dog. If you see a dog owner who doesn’t clear up
please:

Make a note of the time, date
and place it happened.
-
If possible, find out the
person's name and address.

KING
GEORGE V PLAYING FIELD AND PAVILION - Press
Release
View the Playing Field Calendar Online.
The Trustees of the King George V Playing Field have set the fees
required of sports clubs using the Pavilion and Playing Field. Some
of the clubs are unable to meet the fees set. However, at their
meeting on Tuesday evening, the Trustees of Northleach King George V
Playing Field agreed to accept the fees offered by the sports clubs
on the understanding that fund raising activities are organised to
meet any shortfall.
For a period of one year any remaining shortfall in
running costs and essential maintenance will be met by the Trustees
with a grant from the Town Council. That grant will be covered from
capital originally set aside for the development of a Multi Use
Games Area.
The Trustees also agreed to lease the bar area of the
Pavilion to Northleach Club Ltd on a 12 month lease on conditions
already accepted by the company in principle. These conditions
include: that the bar is used principally in connection with
sporting activities which have been booked in advance with the
Trustees, it cannot function as a members social club and that
prices are set in agreement with the Trustees. The Trustees will not
provide any element of subsidy for that venture.
The Trust has no income except
what is raised from the users of the Pavilion and if this does not
cover the running costs, the Trustees rely wholly on grant funding
from the Town Council to provide and maintain the Playing Field
for all the residents of Northleach and Eastington.
The Trustees remain committed to
replacing the Pavilion and are already working on this project.
Consequently, any agreement with the sports clubs and Northleach
Club Ltd will be reviewed in 12 months time.
